This project examines the current status and potential of various renewable energy technologies. Case studies of countries and regions that have made significant progress in adopting renewables are analyzed to identify best practices and policies that can accelerate this transition. Barriers to large-scale integration of variable renewable sources like solar and wind into national grids are also explored. The project concludes with recommendations on how countries can most effectively transition their energy systems to renewable sources. Table of Contents

Thesis Abstract

Abstract

Reforestation has significant potential to sequester carbon from the atmosphere and help mitigate climate change. This project examines reforestation efforts around the world and assesses their effectiveness at increasing carbon storage in biomass and soils. Case studies from countries with large-scale reforestation programs like China are analyzed to determine best practices. The carbon sequestration potential of different forest types is also explored. The project concludes with recommendations on how reforestation can be further promoted and optimized to maximize its climate change mitigation impact.
