Abstract

Plastic pollution has become a major environmental crisis globally as vast amounts of plastic end up polluting land and waterways. This project aims to analyze the effectiveness of policy interventions like bans and taxes in reducing plastic waste. It will review case studies of jurisdictions that have implemented bans on single-use plastic bags, straws, and Styrofoam containers. It will also examine examples of plastic taxes to understand their impact on changing consumer behavior and waste generation. The results will help inform recommendations for developing comprehensive plastic waste reduction strategies going forward.
