Abstract
Eutrophication, or the excessive richness of nutrients in bodies of water, has become a widespread problem impacting lakes, rivers, and coastal ecosystems globally. The main causes of eutrophication are phosphorus and nitrogen runoff from agricultural fertilizers and sewage. This leads to algal blooms that reduce water quality, harm aquatic life, and degrade habitats. This project aims to research strategies for reducing nutrient pollution and eutrophication. It will analyze best practices for sustainable agriculture and watershed management. Policy options like fertilizer regulations and wetland restoration will also be considered. The goal is to develop an action plan with recommendations for improving water quality through nutrient reduction.
