Abstract

Overfishing is a major threat to the health of our oceans and has contributed to declining fish populations around the world. This project aims to examine the issue of overfishing and ways that marine biodiversity can be protected through improved fisheries management. Key topics that will be explored include identifying overfished species and their importance to marine ecosystems, the environmental and economic impacts of overfishing, and regulatory and voluntary fisheries management programs that have shown success in rebuilding fish stocks and protecting biodiversity. The goal of this research is to evaluate effective strategies that can be adopted to sustainably manage fisheries and conserve marine life for future generations.
