Abstract


This project examines how environmental policymaking can be improved through more meaningful stakeholder engagement. A literature review explores best practices for inclusive and collaborative decision-making that incorporates diverse perspectives. A case study of a recent policy issue analyzes both successful and failed attempts at stakeholder engagement. Recommendations are provided for processes and frameworks that governments and organizations can adopt to facilitate constructive participation and build consensus around sustainability policies. The goal is to develop policies that balance environmental, social and economic considerations through cooperation and compromise.
