Abstract
This project aims to evaluate existing environmental monitoring and compliance programs and provide recommendations for improvement. Environmental monitoring is critical for assessing the impacts of human activities on natural resources and the success of regulations in protecting the environment. However, many current programs face challenges such as insufficient funding, lack of community participation, and outdated technologies. This research will analyze monitoring programs for air and water quality, waste management, and protected area oversight. Interviews with regulators and stakeholders will identify weaknesses. Recommendations will focus on leveraging new technologies, enhancing multi-stakeholder collaboration, and developing innovative funding mechanisms to strengthen environmental governance. The goal is to close compliance gaps and improve environmental and community outcomes.
