The rapid evolution of digital technologies presents both opportunities and challenges for small beverage producers seeking sustainable growth within competitive markets. Despite the increasing adoption of digital tools in large-scale industrial contexts, small-scale beverage enterprises remain underrepresented in scholarly discourse concerning digital transformation's impact on sustainability outcomes. This study aims to investigate the relationship between digital transformation initiatives and sustainable growth among small beverage producers, with a particular focus on identifying key drivers, barriers, and contextual factors influencing this dynamic. The specific objectives include (1) to assess the extent of digital technology adoption among small beverage producers; (2) to analyze the impact of digital transformation on economic, environmental, and social sustainability indicators; and (3) to explore internal and external factors that facilitate or hinder digital adoption in this sector. Employing a qualitative case study research design, the study investigates five small beverage enterprises operating within a defined regional ecosystem characterized by diverse socio-economic conditions. The population encompasses owner-managers, key operational staff, and customers of these enterprises. A purposive sampling technique selects 25 participants, ensuring representation of different roles and perspectives. Data collection entails semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, field observations, and review of relevant company documents, ensuring triangulation for validity. The interview instruments are pilot tested for clarity and consistency, and reliability is established through inter-coder agreement. Quantitative data from questionnaires measuring technology adoption levels and sustainability performance are analyzed using descriptive statistics, while thematic analysis is employed to interpret qualitative findings. Data analysis proceeds through a mixed-methods approach. Quantitative data are subjected to regression analysis to determine the strength and significance of relationships between digital adoption variables and sustainability indicators. Qualitative data are coded and analyzed thematically to identify patterns and contextual nuances. The study integrates these insights to develop a comprehensive model illustrating how digital transformation influences sustainable growth pathways, extending existing theoretical frameworks such as the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework and the Sustainable Business Model Canvas. It is anticipated that the findings will reveal a positive correlation between digital technology adoption—such as mobile applications, digital marketing platforms, and inventory management systems—and improvements in economic performance, environmental practices, and social engagement within small beverage firms. The study also expects to identify significant barriers, including limited access to finance, inadequate digital literacy, and infrastructural deficiencies, alongside enabling factors like entrepreneurial resilience and supportive local policies. The results are expected to contribute to a deeper understanding of the mechanisms through which digital transformation fosters sustainability in resource-constrained contexts. This research’s contribution to knowledge lies in its nuanced exploration of digital transformation’s role in enhancing sustainability specifically within small beverage enterprises, an area underexplored in existing literature. By providing empirically grounded insights, the study offers strategic recommendations for practitioners and policymakers aimed at leveraging digital tools to promote sustainable growth. Recommended actions include facilitating access to affordable digital infrastructure, targeted capacity-building initiatives, and developing supportive regulatory environments. In conclusion, the study asserts that digital transformation is a critical enabler of sustainable growth for small beverage producers, contingent upon overcoming contextual barriers and harnessing enabling factors. The findings advocate for integrated policies and customized interventions that promote digital literacy, technological innovation, and sustainability practices. Future research should explore longitudinal impacts and cross-regional comparisons to validate and extend the model proposed, thereby enriching the understanding of digital sustainability dynamics in small-scale food and beverage sectors globally.
