Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the proximate and the effect of labour unionism on the administration of Obafemi Awolowo University (O.A.U.) in Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Labour unionism plays a crucial role in the Nigerian higher education sector and has a significant impact on university administration. The study will focus on understanding the nature of labour unionism within O.A.U., examining the historical context, organizational structure, and activities of labour unions on campus. The research will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection methods to provide a comprehensive analysis of the relationship between labour unionism and university administration. Interviews, surveys, and document analysis will be utilized to gather data from key stakeholders, including university administrators, faculty members, non-academic staff, and labour union leaders. The proximate of labour unionism within O.A.U. will be explored, including the formation and evolution of labour unions on campus, their objectives, membership composition, and modes of operation.
