Thesis Abstract

Abstract
Financial literacy education has become increasingly important in higher education institutions as students face growing challenges in managing their finances and debts. This study aims to investigate the impact of financial literacy education on student debt management in higher education. Through a comprehensive literature review, this research explores the relationship between financial literacy education and student debt management. The study also examines the current practices and effectiveness of financial literacy programs in higher education institutions. The methodology employed in this study includes a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with students and financial literacy educators. The data collected will be analyzed using statistical methods to identify patterns and correlations between financial literacy education and student debt management outcomes. The findings will contribute to the existing body of knowledge on financial literacy education and its impact on student debt management. The results of this study are expected to provide insights into the effectiveness of financial literacy education programs in equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage their finances and debts responsibly. Recommendations for improving financial literacy education in higher education institutions will be proposed based on the research findings. Overall, this research aims to inform policymakers, educators, and students on the importance of financial literacy education in promoting financial well-being and reducing student debt burdens.

Thesis Overview

The project titled "The Impact of Financial Literacy Education on Student Debt Management in Higher Education" aims to investigate the influence of financial literacy education on student debt management within the higher education sector. This research is motivated by the growing concern over the increasing levels of student debt and the importance of equipping students with the necessary financial knowledge and skills to make informed decisions regarding their finances. The study will delve into the existing literature on financial literacy education and student debt management to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of knowledge in this area. By conducting a thorough review of relevant academic sources, this research aims to identify the key factors that contribute to student debt accumulation and explore how financial literacy education can help students effectively manage their debts. Through the application of qualitative and quantitative research methods, the project will seek to analyze the impact of financial literacy education programs on student debt outcomes. Surveys, interviews, and statistical analysis will be used to collect and analyze data from students who have participated in financial literacy programs, as well as those who have not. By comparing the financial behaviors and debt levels of these two groups, the research aims to provide valuable insights into the efficacy of financial literacy education in promoting responsible financial management among students. Moreover, the study will also consider the potential limitations and challenges associated with financial literacy education initiatives in higher education institutions. By examining factors such as program accessibility, effectiveness, and student engagement, the research will provide practical recommendations for improving the design and implementation of financial literacy programs to better support students in managing their debts. Overall, this research seeks to contribute to the existing literature on financial literacy education and student debt management by offering empirical evidence on the effectiveness of such programs in higher education settings. By shedding light on the impact of financial literacy education on student debt outcomes, this study aims to inform policy and practice in promoting financial wellness among college students and empowering them to make sound financial decisions for their future.
