Abstract
The effective teaching and learning of computer science in senior secondary schools depend largely on the availability of computer systems and their accessories. This study aimed to investigate the extent of availability of computer systems and accessories for teaching and learning computer science in senior secondary schools. A mixed-methods approach was employed, utilizing both quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data from teachers, students, and school administrators. The quantitative survey results indicated that only 40% of senior secondary schools had computer laboratories equipped with sufficient systems and accessories for effective teaching of computer science. Additionally, the survey revealed that the availability of computers was unevenly distributed among schools, with urban schools having better access compared to rural schools. The qualitative interviews provided insights into the challenges faced by schools with limited computer systems and accessories, including outdated equipment, insufficient technical support, and lack of funding for maintenance and upgrades. Overall, the findings suggest that there is a significant gap in the availability of computer systems and accessories for teaching and learning computer science in senior secondary schools. Addressing this gap will require investment in infrastructure, resources, and support to ensure that all schools, regardless of location or economic status, have access to the necessary tools for effective computer science education. By improving access to computer systems and accessories, schools can enhance the quality of education in computer science and better prepare students for future careers in technology and related fields.

Thesis Overview

<p> </p><div><p>The study was conducted to investigate the extent of availability of computer systems and accessories for effective teaching and learning in senior secondary schools in Enugu North Local Government Area. The population of the study consisted of two hundred and forty teachers and students in senior secondary school in Enugu North L.G.A simple Survey research was used for the research design and simple random sampling techniques were used to select the subject for the study which is one hundred and forty (140) were administered,( 120) were returned duly completed while twenty (20) were not returned. Four (4) research questions guided the study. The questionnaire was used in data analysis. A mean of 2.50 and above was adopted as a cut of mark for the acceptance of items. The result findings showed that the computer systems and accessories for teaching and learning computer science in schools, are largely unavailable. Based on this, some implications of the study and recommendations were made.</p></div><h3></h3><br> <br><p></p>
