Abstract
This thesis explores the impact of telehealth services on chronic disease management in elderly patients through a comparative study. The aging population, coupled with the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases, poses significant challenges to healthcare systems worldwide. Telehealth services have emerged as a promising solution to improve access to care, enhance disease management, and reduce healthcare costs. However, the effectiveness of telehealth interventions in managing chronic diseases among elderly patients remains underexplored. The study aims to address this gap by comparing the outcomes of traditional in-person care with telehealth services in the management of chronic diseases in elderly patients. A mixed-methods approach will be employed, combining quantitative analysis of patient health data and qualitative assessment of patient experiences and perceptions. The research will focus on common chronic conditions affecting the elderly, such as diabetes, hypertension, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review, analyzing existing studies on telehealth services, chronic disease management, and the elderly population. In Chapter Three, the research methodology is detailed, outlining the study design, sampling methods, data collection procedures, and analytical techniques. The chapter also discusses ethical considerations and potential biases in the research process. Chapter Four presents the findings of the study, including quantitative results on health outcomes and qualitative insights from patient interviews.
