The management of pain in pediatric patients has long been a challenging aspect of healthcare, with traditional methods often falling short in terms of effectiveness and patient experience. In recent years, virtual reality (VR) technology has emerged as a promising alternative for pain management, offering a novel and immersive approach to alleviate pain and improve patient outcomes. This thesis explores the impact of VR technology on pain management in pediatric patients, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of its effectiveness, feasibility, and implications for clinical practice. Chapter One provides an introduction to the study, presenting the background of the research, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. The study aims to address the gap in research regarding the specific application of VR technology in pediatric pain management, highlighting the need for evidence-based interventions tailored to the unique needs of young patients. Chapter Two consists of a literature review that explores existing research on VR technology in pain management, with a focus on pediatric populations. The review examines ten key studies that have investigated the efficacy of VR interventions, the mechanisms underlying pain relief through VR, and the benefits and challenges associated with implementing VR technology in clinical settings.
