Abstract
This thesis investigates the impact of mindfulness-based interventions on stress reduction among nursing students through a systematic review and meta-analysis. Stress is a prevalent issue in nursing education, affecting the well-being and academic performance of students. Mindfulness-based interventions have gained attention for their potential to reduce stress and enhance coping mechanisms. This study aims to synthesize existing research on mindfulness interventions in nursing education to provide insights into their effectiveness in reducing stress among nursing students. The systematic review will involve a comprehensive search of electronic databases for relevant studies published in the last decade. Studies meeting the inclusion criteria will be critically appraised for their methodological quality and relevance. The meta-analysis will then quantitatively synthesize the findings of the included studies to determine the overall impact of mindfulness interventions on stress reduction among nursing students. The literature review will explore the theoretical framework of mindfulness, stress in nursing education, and the potential benefits of mindfulness interventions. It will also examine the existing evidence on the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions in reducing stress among various populations, providing a foundation for the current study. The research methodology will outline the search strategy, inclusion and exclusion criteria, data extraction process, and quality assessment methods. It will also describe the statistical analysis plan for the meta-analysis, including effect size calculations and subgroup analyses. The findings from the meta-analysis will be presented and discussed in Chapter Four, highlighting the overall impact of mindfulness interventions on stress reduction among nursing students. Subgroup analyses will explore potential moderators of the intervention effects, such as intervention type, duration, and delivery mode. The conclusion and summary chapter will provide a comprehensive overview of the study findings, implications for nursing education, and recommendations for future research. The significance of this study lies in its potential to inform nursing educators and policymakers about the benefits of integrating mindfulness-based interventions into nursing curricula to support student well-being and academic success.
