Pain management in elderly patients residing in long-term care facilities is a critical aspect of healthcare, particularly due to the prevalence of chronic pain in this population. Music therapy has emerged as a non-pharmacological intervention that shows promise in managing pain and improving quality of life. This thesis explores the impact of music therapy on pain management in elderly patients in long-term care facilities. The study aims to investigate the effectiveness of music therapy interventions in reducing pain levels and enhancing overall well-being among elderly residents. Chapter One provides an introduction to the topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definitions of key terms. Chapter Two comprises a comprehensive literature review that examines existing research on music therapy and pain management in elderly populations. The review covers various aspects such as the mechanisms of music therapy, benefits of music interventions, and previous studies exploring the use of music therapy in pain management.
