Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of various dental floss types in plaque removal, a crucial aspect of oral hygiene maintenance. Poor oral hygiene can lead to various dental issues, including periodontal diseases and dental caries. The choice of dental floss can significantly impact plaque removal efficiency, yet limited research has directly compared the efficacy of different floss types. This research project employed a rigorous methodology to investigate and compare the plaque removal capabilities of different dental floss types, including waxed, unwaxed, tape, and interdental brushes. The study involved a sample of 100 participants who were randomly assigned to one of the four flossing methods and instructed to floss daily for a specified period. Plaque levels were assessed using visual indices, disclosing solutions, and digital imaging before and after the flossing intervention. The results of this study contribute valuable insights into the comparative efficacy of different dental floss types in plaque removal, providing evidence-based recommendations for optimal oral hygiene practices. This research has the potential to inform dental professionals, patients, and oral care product manufacturers, ultimately promoting better oral health outcomes and enhancing the quality of dental care.
