Thesis Abstract
Drought stress is a major environmental factor limiting crop productivity worldwide. In this project, we aim to explore the potential of molecular breeding approaches to enhance crop tolerance to drought stress. The project will focus on identifying key genes and molecular pathways involved in drought tolerance in crops and utilizing this knowledge to develop drought-tolerant crop varieties. The research will involve the use of advanced molecular techniques, such as genome editing and gene expression analysis, to manipulate the expression of drought-responsive genes in crops. The ultimate goal is to develop crop varieties with improved drought tolerance, thereby contributing to sustainable agriculture in water-limited environments.
