Thesis Abstract

Abstract
Climate change poses a significant threat to global agricultural production, affecting crop yield and quality. This study aimed to assess the impact of climate change on maize production, focusing on yield and quality indicators. The research involved a comprehensive literature review to understand the existing knowledge on climate change effects on maize, followed by an empirical study to investigate these impacts. Data collection involved field experiments, climate data analysis, and interviews with farmers to gather insights into current practices and challenges faced in maize production. The findings revealed a clear correlation between changing climatic conditions and maize yield fluctuations. Extreme weather events, such as droughts and heatwaves, were identified as key factors contributing to yield losses and reduced quality in maize crops. Additionally, the study highlighted the importance of adaptive strategies, such as crop diversification and irrigation, in mitigating the negative effects of climate change on maize production. The research methodology included statistical analysis, crop modeling, and qualitative data interpretation to provide a comprehensive assessment of the impact of climate change on maize production. The results of this study have important implications for agricultural policy and practice, emphasizing the urgent need for sustainable adaptation measures to ensure food security and agricultural resilience in the face of ongoing climate change challenges.
