The Role of Race and Ethnicity in the Criminal Justice System

Thesis Abstract

This research project aims to examine the role of race and ethnicity in the criminal justice system, with a focus on disparities in arrest rates, sentencing outcomes, and experiences of minority individuals within the system. The study will involve a comprehensive review of existing literature on racial and ethnic disparities in the criminal justice process, as well as an analysis of quantitative data to assess the extent of these disparities. Additionally, qualitative data will be collected through interviews with criminal justice professionals and individuals impacted by the system to provide insights into the lived experiences of minority populations. The findings of this study will contribute to a deeper understanding of the systemic inequalities within the criminal justice system and inform efforts to promote equity and fairness in the administration of justice.
