The Relationship Between Poverty and Crime

Thesis Abstract

This research project seeks to explore the complex relationship between poverty and crime. The study will examine the various theoretical perspectives that attempt to explain the link between poverty and criminal behavior, including strain theory, social disorganization theory, and relative deprivation theory. Additionally, empirical evidence from existing literature will be analyzed to assess the extent to which poverty influences different types of criminal activities. The findings of this study will contribute to a deeper understanding of the socioeconomic factors that contribute to criminal behavior and inform policy interventions aimed at addressing poverty-related crime.
