The use of body-worn cameras (BWCs) by law enforcement agencies has become increasingly prevalent in recent years, with the aim of enhancing transparency, accountability, and trust in police-community interactions. This thesis explores the impact of BWCs on police-community relations from a criminological perspective. The study delves into the background and rationale behind the adoption of BWCs, identifies key issues and challenges related to their implementation, and examines the implications of BWC usage on various aspects of police-community interactions. Through an extensive review of existing literature on BWCs and police-community relations, this thesis analyzes the potential benefits and drawbacks of BWCs in enhancing accountability, reducing use of force incidents, and improving community perceptions of law enforcement. The review also considers the ethical and privacy concerns associated with BWC deployment, as well as the impact of BWC footage on legal proceedings and public trust in policing.
