Thesis Abstract

Abstract
Poverty, corruption, social policy, and social development are interconnected issues that significantly impact Nigeria. This research aims to explore the intricate relationships among these factors and their collective influence on the country's socio-economic landscape. Poverty in Nigeria remains a pervasive challenge, with a large percentage of the population living below the poverty line. The lack of access to basic necessities such as food, shelter, and healthcare further exacerbates the poverty crisis, leading to a cycle of deprivation and marginalization. Corruption is another critical issue that hampers Nigeria's development efforts. Rampant corruption at various levels of government and society undermines public trust, diverts resources away from essential services, and perpetuates inequality. Addressing corruption is essential for creating a transparent and accountable governance system that promotes social justice and economic progress. Social policy plays a crucial role in shaping the welfare of Nigerian citizens. Effective social policies can help alleviate poverty, reduce inequality, and improve access to essential services such as education and healthcare. However, the implementation of social policies in Nigeria faces challenges such as inadequate funding, weak institutional capacity, and lack of coordination among government agencies. Social development initiatives are vital for enhancing the well-being of Nigeria's population. By investing in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and other key sectors, the country can promote inclusive growth and empower marginalized communities. Social development programs should be designed to address the specific needs of different regions and population groups to ensure equitable outcomes. Overall, this research underscores the importance of addressing poverty, corruption, social policy, and social development in Nigeria to foster sustainable development and improve the quality of life for all citizens. By adopting a comprehensive approach that integrates economic, social, and governance reforms, Nigeria can overcome its challenges and build a more prosperous and equitable society for future generations.
