Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the interplay between poverty, corruption, social policy, and social development in Nigeria. The study seeks to explore how these factors are interconnected and how they impact the overall development of the country. Poverty is a significant challenge in Nigeria, with a large percentage of the population living below the poverty line. This widespread poverty is exacerbated by corruption, which hampers economic growth and development. The research will analyze the effects of corruption on social policies and their implementation in Nigeria. Corruption undermines the effectiveness of social policies by diverting resources meant for social development programs. This leads to a lack of access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and social protection for the most vulnerable populations. Furthermore, the study will examine the role of social policies in addressing poverty and promoting social development in Nigeria. Social policies play a crucial role in reducing poverty and inequality by providing social assistance, healthcare, education, and other essential services to the population. However, the effectiveness of these social policies is often hindered by corruption and mismanagement of resources. Moreover, the research will investigate the impact of social development initiatives on poverty alleviation in Nigeria. Social development programs aim to improve the living conditions of the population by promoting sustainable development, social inclusion, and human rights. By analyzing the outcomes of social development initiatives, the study aims to assess their effectiveness in reducing poverty and promoting social well-being. Overall, this research project will contribute to the existing literature on the relationship between poverty, corruption, social policy, and social development in Nigeria. By identifying the challenges and opportunities in addressing poverty and promoting social development, the study aims to provide insights that can inform policy decisions and interventions to improve the well-being of the Nigerian population.
