Thesis Abstract

Abstract
The reintegration of ex-convicts into society is a complex process that involves various challenges, one of which is the attitudes of co-workers towards individuals with a criminal record. This research project aims to examine the attitudes of co-workers towards ex-convicts in the workplace setting. The study will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data. The quantitative phase of the research will involve distributing surveys to employees in various organizations to assess their general attitudes towards working with ex-convicts. The surveys will include questions related to perceived risk, trust, willingness to work with ex-convicts, and perceptions of rehabilitation and recidivism. The data collected from the surveys will be analyzed using statistical techniques to identify any patterns or trends in co-workers' attitudes towards ex-convicts. In the qualitative phase of the study, semi-structured interviews will be conducted with a subset of participants to gain a deeper understanding of the underlying reasons behind their attitudes towards ex-convicts. The interviews will explore themes such as trust, fear, stigma, perceptions of rehabilitation programs, and personal experiences with ex-convicts in the workplace. The qualitative data will be analyzed using thematic analysis to identify common themes and patterns in co-workers' attitudes. By combining both quantitative and qualitative methods, this research project aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of co-workers' attitudes towards ex-convicts in the workplace. The findings from this study will contribute to the existing literature on reintegration and social stigma surrounding individuals with criminal records. Additionally, the results of this research may have practical implications for organizations looking to create more inclusive and supportive work environments for ex-convicts. Overall, this research project seeks to shed light on an important but understudied aspect of the reintegration process for ex-convicts. By examining co-workers' attitudes towards individuals with criminal records, this study aims to inform policies and practices that promote successful reintegration and reduce stigma in the workplace.
