Financial institutions are increasingly targeted by cybercriminals, with cybercrime representing a significant threat to financial stability, consumer trust, and organizational integrity. Despite substantial investments in technological defenses, incidents of cyber attacks such as phishing, malware, and data breaches continue to rise, indicating a persistent gap between existing prevention strategies and emerging cyber threats. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of cybercrime prevention strategies employed by financial institutions, using a detailed case study approach to identify strengths, weaknesses, and potential areas for enhancement. The specific objectives include examining the current prevention frameworks, evaluating the integration of technological and human factors, and proposing a comprehensive model for improved cybersecurity resilience. The research adopts a mixed-methods design, integrating quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. The quantitative component involves a structured questionnaire administered to a stratified random sample of 200 cybersecurity professionals and managerial staff from twenty leading financial institutions within the country. The qualitative component involves semi-structured interviews with ten senior cybersecurity managers to gain in-depth insights into strategic and operational challenges. Data collection instruments were validated through pilot testing, achieving a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.87 for the survey, indicating high reliability.
