Abstract
The integration of IoT technologies in smart cities presents unique cybersecurity challenges that require comprehensive solutions. This research focuses on addressing cybersecurity concerns in the context of IoT deployment for smart cities. The study begins with a thorough review of IoT in smart cities, cybersecurity threats, security standards, privacy considerations, and existing approaches. A detailed methodology for analyzing cybersecurity requirements, evaluating security standards, designing secure IoT architectures, and assessing risks is presented. The implementation phase involves the deployment of secure IoT architectures, integration of advanced security mechanisms, vulnerability testing, and performance analysis. The results are compared with conventional security measures and visualized to demonstrate the cybersecurity improvements in smart city IoT. The thesis concludes with a summary of research findings, implications, and recommendations for securing IoT in smart city environments, providing valuable insights for urban planning and IoT deployment in smart cities.
