The rapid shift to blended learning environments in business education has raised questions about how hybrid classroom design (HCD) influences student learning outcomes, engagement, and employability in real-world managerial contexts. This study investigates the impact of HCD on academic performance, skill development, and job-readiness among postgraduate business students. The aim is to determine whether and how hybrid modalities, combining synchronous online lectures with in-person collaborative sessions, affect achievement in core business disciplines, critical thinking, and perceived readiness for professional practice. Specific objectives are to (1) evaluate differences in course achievement between hybrid and traditional classroom cohorts; (2) examine the relationship between hybrid design features (synchronous vs asynchronous balance, breakout-session structure, and digital resource quality) and cognitive/affective learning outcomes; (3) assess student engagement, motivation, and self-regulated learning under hybrid conditions; (4) analyze the impact of HCD on perceived employability and soft-skill development; and (5) identify contextual factors that modulate the effectiveness of hybrid design in business courses. A mixed-methods approach will be employed. The study will adopt a quasi-experimental design with two intact postgraduate cohorts a hybrid design group (n=240) and a traditional instruction group (n=240) drawn from five MBA and MSc programs at a leading university over two academic semesters. Quantitative data will be collected through standardized course assessments, a validated Student Engagement Inventory, a Self-Regulated Learning Questionnaire, and an Employability Perception Scale, supplemented by course archival data (attendance, participation, and assignment submission timing). Multiple regression analyses, ANCOVA controlling for baseline academic ability, and structural equation modeling (SEM) will test hypothesized relationships between HCD features and outcomes. Qualitative data will be gathered from focus groups (four groups per cohort, 8–10 participants each) and instructor interviews (n=12) to elucidate mechanisms, with thematic analysis conducted to triangulate quantitative results and to identify contextual enablers and barriers. The theoretical framework combines the Community of Inquiry (CoI) model to capture cognitive presence, social presence, and teaching presence, and the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework to assess how technology and pedagogy co-evolve in hybrid settings. Key expected findings include (i) hybrid cohorts achieving non-inferior or slightly superior grade outcomes compared with traditional cohorts, contingent on a deliberate balance of synchronous and asynchronous activities; (ii) positive associations between well-structured breakout sessions, timely feedback, high-quality digital resources, and higher levels of student engagement and self-regulated learning; (iii) enhanced development of collaborative and analytical skills correlating with increased perceived employability; and (iv) moderating effects of program type (MBA vs MSc), prior digital literacy, and discipline-specific requirements on the success of HCD. The study aims to reveal how CoI and TPACK dimensions mediate the link between hybrid design features and learning outcomes, offering insight into optimal design configurations for business education. The contribution to knowledge lies in providing robust empirical evidence on how hybrid classroom design shapes academic and employability outcomes in postgraduate business education, clarifying which design elements yield the strongest gains and under what conditions. The research will inform curriculum developers, instructional designers, and faculty on best practices for implementing hybrid modalities in business programs, including guidelines for resource allocation, assessment alignment, and professional development. Policy implications include recommendations for scalable hybrid models that support equity in access and performance across diverse student cohorts. The study concludes with practical recommendations for optimizing hybrid course design, such as explicit alignment of learning objectives with digital tools, structured synchronous sessions to foster interaction, timely formative feedback, and explicit strategies to develop higher-order thinking and teamwork skills in online and offline settings.
