Thesis Abstract

Abstract
Administrative stress is a significant challenge faced by modern managers in private business organizations, impacting their performance and overall well-being. This research project focuses on investigating the effects of administrative stress on managers at Hallmark Bank in Enugu, Nigeria. The study aims to explore the sources of administrative stress, the coping mechanisms employed by managers, and the overall impact on their job satisfaction and organizational effectiveness. Using a mixed-methods approach, data will be collected through surveys and interviews with managers at Hallmark Bank. The surveys will assess the various factors contributing to administrative stress, such as workload, time pressures, role ambiguity, and interpersonal conflicts. Additionally, interviews will provide qualitative insights into the subjective experiences of managers dealing with administrative stress. The findings of this research are expected to reveal the specific stressors that are most prevalent among managers in a private business organization like Hallmark Bank. Moreover, the study will identify the strategies that managers adopt to cope with administrative stress, including problem-focused and emotion-focused coping mechanisms. By understanding these coping strategies, organizations can implement targeted interventions to support their managers in dealing with stress more effectively. Furthermore, the research will examine the impact of administrative stress on job satisfaction and organizational performance at Hallmark Bank. It is hypothesized that high levels of administrative stress will be associated with lower job satisfaction, increased turnover intention, and reduced productivity among managers. This study will contribute to the existing literature on stress management in organizational settings, providing valuable insights for both researchers and practitioners. Ultimately, the research project aims to generate practical recommendations for Hallmark Bank and other private business organizations to mitigate the negative effects of administrative stress on managers. By implementing strategies to reduce stressors and enhance coping mechanisms, organizations can create a healthier work environment that promotes employee well-being and organizational success. This study underscores the importance of addressing administrative stress as a critical issue facing modern managers in private business organizations.
