This project aims to study the role of plant secondary metabolites in plant-plant allelopathy. Allelopathy refers to the chemical interactions between plants that can influence their growth, development, and survival. Plant secondary metabolites, such as phenolic compounds, alkaloids, and terpenoids, have been implicated in mediating allelopathic effects. However, the specific mechanisms and ecological implications of these interactions are not fully understood. In this study, we will investigate the production and release of secondary metabolites by different plant species and examine their effects on neighboring plants. By elucidating the role of plant secondary metabolites in allelopathy, this research will contribute to a better understanding of plant-plant interactions and may have implications for sustainable agriculture and weed management.
