Investigating the role of plant volatiles in plant-plant communication

Thesis Abstract

Plants have the ability to communicate with each other through the release of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This project aims to investigate the role of plant volatiles in plant-plant communication. The study will involve analyzing the types and quantities of VOCs emitted by different plant species and examining their effects on neighboring plants. Laboratory experiments will be conducted to assess the responses of plants to VOC exposure, including changes in growth, defense mechanisms, and gene expression. The findings will contribute to our understanding of the complex interactions between plants and their surrounding environment.
