Abstract
Mycorrhizal fungi play a crucial role in the symbiotic relationship with plants, enhancing plant growth and improving soil health. This research project aims to explore the ecological role of mycorrhizal fungi in enhancing plant growth and soil health. The study begins with an introduction (Chapter 1) that provides a background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of terms. Chapter 2 presents a comprehensive literature review covering ten key aspects related to mycorrhizal fungi and their impact on plant growth and soil health. Chapter 3 details the research methodology, outlining the approaches, techniques, and tools employed in the study to investigate the ecological role of mycorrhizal fungi. This chapter includes subsections on research design, sampling methods, data collection, data analysis, and ethical considerations among other relevant aspects. Chapter 4 delves into the discussion of findings, presenting and analyzing the results obtained from the research. The chapter explores the symbiotic relationship between mycorrhizal fungi and plants, the mechanisms through which mycorrhizal fungi enhance plant growth, and the effects on soil health. The final chapter, Chapter 5, presents the conclusion and summary of the project thesis. The findings of the research are synthesized to draw conclusions on the ecological role of mycorrhizal fungi in enhancing plant growth and soil health.
