Thesis Abstract

The process of plant domestication has led to the selection and cultivation of crop plants with desirable traits. However, this process has also resulted in a reduction in crop genetic diversity, which can have negative implications for crop adaptation and resilience. This project aims to analyze the impact of plant domestication on crop genetic diversity. The study will involve comparing the genetic diversity of domesticated crop varieties with their wild relatives using molecular markers. Additionally, the project will assess the implications of reduced genetic diversity on crop adaptation to changing environmental conditions.
