Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the effect of accounting and internal control systems in deposit money banks' operations. The study is motivated by the importance of these systems in ensuring the reliability of financial information, safeguarding assets, and promoting operational efficiency in banks. The research will focus on exploring how accounting practices and internal control procedures influence the overall performance and risk management strategies of deposit money banks. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of financial data and qualitative assessments of internal control frameworks. Data will be collected through questionnaires, interviews, and document analysis from a sample of deposit money banks in the target region. Statistical analyses will be conducted to examine the relationship between accounting practices, internal controls, and key performance indicators such as profitability, liquidity, and asset quality. The research aims to provide valuable insights into the current state of accounting and internal control systems in deposit money banks, identifying strengths and weaknesses in existing practices. By evaluating the effectiveness of these systems, the study seeks to propose recommendations for enhancing financial reporting accuracy, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency in the banking sector. The findings will contribute to the body of knowledge on accounting and internal controls in the banking industry, offering practical implications for policymakers, regulators, and bank management. Overall, this research project will shed light on the crucial role of accounting and internal control systems in deposit money banks' operations. By examining the impact of these systems on financial performance and risk management, the study aims to enhance the understanding of best practices in accounting and internal control among banking institutions. The findings are expected to inform strategic decision-making processes in banks, leading to improved governance structures, increased transparency, and ultimately, better financial outcomes for stakeholders.
