The rapid advancement of virtual reality (VR) technology offers transformative potential for art education by fostering enhanced creative expression among students. However, there remains a significant gap in empirical understanding regarding the effectiveness and implementation strategies of VR tools within diverse educational contexts, particularly in promoting innovative art-making skills. This study aims to explore how integrating virtual reality applications influences students' creative expression and engagement in art education, with specific objectives to assess the impact of VR-based instructional methods on creative output, investigate students' perceptions of VR as a learning tool, and identify best practices for effective integration of VR into art curricula. Employing a mixed-methods research design, the study combines quantitative experimental approaches with qualitative explorations. The quantitative phase involves a quasi-experimental design with a sample of 120 second-year undergraduate art students from a comprehensive art college, randomly assigned to control and experimental groups. The experimental group utilizes VR tools such as Oculus Quest-based art studios and immersive drawing environments over a semester, while the control group continues traditional studio activities. Data collection instruments include standardized creative performance assessments, pre- and post-intervention questionnaires measuring engagement and attitudes, and observational checklists. The qualitative component consists of semi-structured interviews with 20 students and 10 art educators, complemented by analysis of reflective journals, to gain deeper insights into user experiences and pedagogical considerations.
