This thesis investigates sustainable design strategies for urban housing developments with the aim of promoting environmentally friendly and socially responsible architectural practices. The research is motivated by the increasing need for sustainable urban housing solutions to address the challenges posed by rapid urbanization, population growth, and climate change. The study focuses on exploring innovative design approaches that can enhance the sustainability and livability of urban housing projects while mitigating their environmental impact. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presents the background of the study, articulates the problem statement, outlines the objectives of the study, discusses the limitations and scope of the research, highlights the significance of the study, and provides an overview of the thesis structure. The chapter also includes a comprehensive definition of key terms related to sustainable design and urban housing developments. Chapter Two consists of a detailed literature review that examines existing research and scholarly works related to sustainable design principles, urban housing developments, green building practices, and sustainable architecture. The chapter critically evaluates previous studies and identifies gaps in the literature that this research seeks to address.
