This thesis investigates sustainable design strategies for urban housing developments, aiming to address the pressing need for environmentally friendly and socially responsible solutions in the context of rapid urbanization and climate change. The study explores how sustainable design principles can be integrated into the planning and development of urban housing projects to create more resilient, livable, and ecologically sensitive communities. Through a comprehensive literature review, case studies, and empirical research, this thesis identifies key challenges and opportunities in sustainable urban housing design and proposes innovative strategies to enhance the sustainability performance of housing developments. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms.
