This research project aims to explore the role of archaeology in promoting tourism in ancient religious pilgrimage sites. The study will investigate how archaeological discoveries and interpretations contribute to the understanding and promotion of these sacred sites as tourist destinations. It will examine the impact of archaeological findings on visitor experiences, the preservation and conservation of religious pilgrimage sites, and the socio-cultural implications of tourism development in these locations. The research will employ a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, including site surveys, interviews with tourists and local stakeholders, and analysis of tourism data. The findings will provide valuable insights into the potential of archaeology to enhance the tourism value of ancient religious pilgrimage sites.
