Increasing dairy cow milk yield remains a critical challenge for enhancing dairy productivity and ensuring food security in livestock-dependent economies. Suboptimal nutritional management is a primary factor limiting optimal milk production, necessitating the development of targeted nutritional interventions that are evidence-based and practically applicable. This study aims to develop and assess a comprehensive nutritional intervention designed to improve milk yield among dairy cows within commercial dairy farms. The specific objectives include identifying key nutritional deficiencies affecting milk production, formulating an optimized dietary regimen, evaluating the effects of the intervention on milk yield and composition, and analyzing economic implications for farmers. Employing a quasi-experimental research design, the study was conducted over a six-month period involving 120 lactating Holstein-Friesian dairy cows from six commercial farms in the region. The population was stratified based on lactation stage and parity to ensure representative sampling. A purposive sampling technique was employed to select farms and cows that met predefined criteria, ensuring homogeneity and reducing confounding variables. Data collection instruments comprised a structured dietary assessment checklist, feed intake records, milk yield measurement using calibrated lactometers, and laboratory analysis of milk composition through infrared spectroscopy. The main conclusion underscores the importance of targeted, scientifically formulated nutritional interventions in enhancing milk yield and quality. Recommendations include incorporating routine nutritional assessments into dairy management practices, optimizing feed formulation processes, and training farmers on the application of improved feeding protocols. Future research should explore long-term implications, including reproductive performance and herd health, to further contextualize nutritional strategies within sustainable dairy production systems.
