Thesis Abstract

The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in maintaining fluid balance, immune function, and lipid absorption in the body. While extensively studied in humans, the anatomy and function of the lymphatic system in different animal species remain relatively unexplored. This project aims to investigate and compare the structure and function of the lymphatic system across various animal species, including mammals, birds, reptiles, and marine animals. By examining the similarities and differences in lymphatic system organization, lymphatic vessel distribution, lymph node structure, and immune cell populations, this study will provide valuable insights into the evolutionary adaptations and functional variations of the lymphatic system in different animals. The findings will contribute to our understanding of comparative anatomy and physiology and may have implications for veterinary medicine and the development of novel therapeutic approaches.
