The Role of Forests in Water Resource Management

Thesis Abstract

This project aims to explore the crucial role of forests in water resource management. Forests play a significant role in regulating the quantity, quality, and timing of water flow in watersheds. They act as natural filters, preventing sediment and pollutants from entering water bodies, and help recharge groundwater aquifers. This study will examine the various mechanisms through which forests influence water resources, including evapotranspiration, interception, and infiltration. Additionally, it will assess the impacts of deforestation and forest degradation on water availability and quality. The findings of this research will contribute to a better understanding of the importance of forests in water resource management and inform sustainable land use practices.
