Thesis Abstract

In the construction of 500 liters capacity water reservoir, galvanized steel sheet forms the tank and an angle iron rod forms the stand. Two full length galvanized sheet were marked out and cut out to the required sizes. The work stated by cutting the 14 gauge galvanized steel sheets of full length into geometrical dimensions of the cylindrical shape. After cutting, the different sized were assembled and joined together by using 12 gauge electrode on our holding of the parts with the exist piping were ensured. The top of the tank has a circular shape opening for the entering of water which is covered with the constructed cover. In order to provide rigid foundation two angled iron was cast and assembled together which is the constructed support base. The 500 liters capacity water reservoir is designed for effective storage and transfer of water through the top control which allow the easy flow of water through the tank.

Thesis Overview

1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

A water tank is a container for storing water. The need for a water tank is as old as civilization, to provide storage of water for use in many applications, drinking water irrigation agriculture, agricultural farming both for plants and livestock, chemical manufacturing, food preparation as well as many other uses in our environment. Water tank parameters include the general design of the tank, and choice of construction materials, linings. Various materials are used for making a water tank: plastic, polyethylene, polypropylene, stainless, carbon or welded. Earthen pots also function as water storages. Water tanks are an efficient way to help developing countries to stores clean water.

Water tank, also known as a water tower will create a pressure at the ground – level outlet of 1 kpa per 10.2cm or 1 psi per 2.31 feet of elevation. Thus a tank elevated to elevated to 70 feet creates about 30 psi of estic and instrustrial requirements. Vertical cylindrical dome top tanks may hold million gallons. Horizontal cylindrical tanks are typically used for transport because their low- profile creates a low center of gravity helping to maintain equilibrium for the transport vehicle, trailer or truck a hydro – pneumatic tank is typically a horizontal pressurized storage tank. Press uprising this reservoir of water creates a surge free delivery of stored water into the distribution system.

1.2 OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

i. To make the study about the analysis and design of water tank

ii. To make guideline for the design of liquid retaining structure according to 1s code.

iii. To know about design philosophy for safe design of water tank.

iv. This report is to provide guidance in the design and construction of circular priestess’s concrete using tendons.

v. Tank can be used for success of water in a site for mixing of cement and sand for the building.

vi. Water has been stored in the tank so that it can be used for selling.

vii. Great portion of farmland can be watered through irrigation.

1.3 JUSTIFICATION OF THE STUDY

Water tank came into existence because of human needs in the whole world. It is very essential that tank is encourageble to have tank in our environment in other to store water during raining seasons.

Many years ago in our local parts of Nigeria, people always store water in a clay pot. Their thought was that there are no other ways of storing water, but nom we are on mechanization world” water can be stored in large quantity and differences types of water tanks. There is under ground tank, plastic tank, stainless and constructed galvanized sheet tank. Water is necessary in every environment, industrial use home use (like cooking, bathing, washing etc).

Water is needed in farming especially during dry season, with the used of water tank, rain water will be collected with water collect or quickly into the tank.
