Thesis Abstract

Climate change poses significant challenges to agricultural productivity, particularly in terms of water availability and efficient irrigation practices. This project aims to investigate the impact of agricultural education on farmers' adoption of climate-smart irrigation techniques, with a focus on enhancing water use efficiency and resilience to changing climatic conditions.
The project will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data analysis and qualitative research methods. Initially, a comprehensive literature review will be conducted to gather existing knowledge on climate-smart irrigation techniques, their benefits, and the role of agricultural education in promoting their adoption.
Quantitative data will be collected through surveys administered to farmers who have undergone agricultural education programs and those who have not. The surveys will assess farmers' knowledge of climate-smart irrigation techniques, their attitudes towards their adoption, and the extent to which they have implemented these techniques on their farms. Additionally, data on water use efficiency and crop productivity will be collected to measure the impact of climate-smart irrigation techniques.
Qualitative research methods, such as interviews and focus group discussions, will be conducted with a sample of farmers who have adopted climate-smart irrigation techniques.
