The utilization of mobile technology in agricultural extension services has emerged as a promising approach to enhance information dissemination and support smallholder farmers in improving their agricultural practices. This thesis aims to assess the effectiveness of mobile technology in enhancing agricultural extension services for smallholder farmers. The study will investigate the impact of mobile technology on information access, knowledge sharing, and adoption of improved agricultural practices among smallholder farmers. The research will be conducted using a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with smallholder farmers, agricultural extension workers, and mobile technology providers. The data collected will be analyzed using statistical methods and thematic analysis to identify patterns and trends in the effectiveness of mobile technology in agricultural extension services. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the role of mobile technology in agricultural extension services and provide insights into the potential benefits and challenges of integrating mobile technology in smallholder farming communities. The results will inform policymakers, extension agencies, and mobile technology providers on how to effectively utilize mobile technology to enhance agricultural extension services and support the sustainable development of smallholder farming communities. Overall, this thesis seeks to provide a comprehensive analysis of the effectiveness of mobile technology in enhancing agricultural extension services for smallholder farmers, with the ultimate goal of promoting agricultural productivity, food security, and livelihood improvement in rural communities.
