Access to agricultural credit remains a critical determinant of smallholder farmers’ productivity and overall livelihood resilience in emerging economies, yet persistent gaps hinder effective financial inclusion, thereby constraining productivity gains. This study aims to develop a comprehensive framework for assessing the linkages between smallholder farmers’ access to agricultural credit and their productivity outcomes, with a specific focus on identifying systemic barriers and enabling mechanisms within the financial provision ecosystem. The research objectives include (1) to examine the determinants influencing smallholder farmers’ access to credit; (2) to analyze the impact of credit access on farmers’ productivity; and (3) to construct a conceptual framework integrating socio-economic, institutional, and policy factors affecting credit-productivity linkages. The methodology adopts a mixed-methods research design, combining quantitative and qualitative techniques to generate a holistic understanding.
