Thesis Abstract
Abstract
This research project focuses on the construction of a borehole in the Agricultural and Bio-environmental Engineering Department. The borehole is essential for providing a sustainable water supply for various research activities, irrigation purposes, and overall departmental needs. The construction process involves several steps including site selection, drilling, casing, installation of pumping equipment, and water quality testing. The site selection process considers geological factors, hydrogeological conditions, proximity to existing infrastructure, and future departmental expansion plans. Drilling is carried out using appropriate equipment to reach the desired depth for optimal water yield. Casing of the borehole is done to prevent collapse, ensure water quality, and facilitate efficient pumping. The installation of pumping equipment is a crucial step in the construction process. The type of pump selected depends on the intended use of the water, the depth of the borehole, and the expected water demand. Proper installation of the pump is essential for efficient water extraction and long-term reliability. Water quality testing is conducted to ensure that the water from the borehole meets the required standards for its intended use. Parameters such as pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, and presence of contaminants are analyzed to determine the suitability of the water for irrigation, research activities, and other purposes within the department. Overall, the construction of the borehole in the Agricultural and Bio-environmental Engineering Department is a critical project that will enhance the department's research capabilities, support sustainable agricultural practices, and provide a reliable water source for various activities. Proper planning, execution, and monitoring of the construction process are essential to ensure the successful completion of the project and the long-term functionality of the borehole.
