This research aims to investigate the accounting system of cooperative societies in Enugu North Local Government Area. Cooperative societies play a vital role in fostering economic development at the grassroots level, and their financial management is crucial for their sustainability and growth. The study will employ a qualitative research approach, utilizing interviews, questionnaires, and document analysis to gather data from cooperative societies in the area. The research will focus on identifying the current accounting practices and challenges faced by cooperative societies in Enugu North LGA. It will examine the accounting records maintenance, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The study will also explore the level of financial literacy among cooperative members and its impact on the financial management of the societies. By analyzing the accounting system of cooperative societies in Enugu North LGA, this research aims to provide valuable insights for improving their financial management practices. The findings of the study will help identify areas where cooperative societies may need support in enhancing their accounting systems, training members on financial management, and complying with financial regulations.
