Abstract
Small scale industries play a significant role in the economic development of Imo State, Nigeria. However, these enterprises face various challenges in their accounting and management practices which hinder their growth and sustainability. This research project aims to investigate the accounting and management problems faced by small scale industries in Imo State and propose solutions to address these challenges. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative research methods. Data will be collected through surveys, interviews, and document analysis from a sample of small scale industries in Imo State. The research will focus on identifying common accounting issues such as poor record-keeping, lack of financial reporting, and inadequate internal controls. Additionally, the study will explore management problems including limited strategic planning, ineffective leadership, and inadequate employee training. Through the analysis of the collected data, this research aims to provide insights into the specific accounting and management challenges faced by small scale industries in Imo State. By understanding these problems, appropriate recommendations will be made to help these enterprises improve their financial processes and operational efficiency. Proposed solutions may include implementing cloud-based accounting systems, providing training programs for managers and staff, and developing strategic business plans. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the challenges faced by small scale industries in developing countries like Nigeria. The results will be valuable for policymakers, business owners, and other stakeholders in the small scale industry sector.
