Thesis Abstract

**Abstract
** The genetic variability and population structure of threatened bird species in fragmented habitats have become a critical issue in conservation biology. This study aims to investigate the genetic diversity, population structure, and connectivity of a threatened bird species inhabiting fragmented landscapes. Through the use of molecular techniques, specifically microsatellite markers and DNA sequencing, genetic variability within and among populations will be assessed to understand the impact of habitat fragmentation on genetic diversity and gene flow. The study will also explore the demographic history and phylogeography of the species to provide insights into its evolutionary dynamics and adaptability to changing environments. By conducting field surveys and collecting samples from different populations across fragmented habitats, this research will analyze the genetic composition and structure of the target bird species. Population genetics analyses, including genetic diversity indices, population differentiation, and gene flow estimates, will be performed to evaluate the effects of habitat fragmentation on genetic variation and connectivity among populations. Furthermore, landscape genetic approaches will be employed to assess the influence of landscape features on gene flow patterns and population structure. The findings of this study will contribute to a better understanding of the genetic consequences of habitat fragmentation on threatened bird species and provide valuable information for conservation management strategies. By elucidating the genetic variability and population structure of the species in fragmented habitats, this research will support the development of effective conservation measures to mitigate the negative impacts of habitat fragmentation on biodiversity. Ultimately, this study aims to enhance the conservation efforts for the protection and sustainable management of threatened bird species facing challenges in fragmented habitats. Keywords genetic variability, population structure, threatened bird species, fragmented habitat, conservation biology, molecular ecology, population genetics, landscape genetics, habitat fragmentation, biodiversity conservation.
