Thesis Abstract

Abstract
Osteoarthritis is a common degenerative joint disease affecting both humans and animals, leading to pain, reduced mobility, and decreased quality of life. In recent years, stem cell therapy has emerged as a promising treatment option for osteoarthritis due to its regenerative and anti-inflammatory properties. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of stem cell therapy in treating osteoarthritis in companion animals. The research involved a comprehensive literature review to examine the current understanding of osteoarthritis pathogenesis, stem cell biology, and previous studies on stem cell therapy for osteoarthritis in animals. The literature review highlighted the potential of stem cells in promoting cartilage repair, reducing inflammation, and improving joint function in osteoarthritic animals. The methodology section outlined the experimental design, including the selection of animal models, stem cell isolation and characterization, treatment protocols, and outcome measures. The study utilized a randomized controlled trial design with a sample size of X companion animals diagnosed with osteoarthritis. Stem cells were harvested from adipose tissue and injected into the affected joints of the animals. The results of the study demonstrated significant improvements in lameness scores, joint mobility, and pain levels in the animals receiving stem cell therapy compared to the control group. Histological analysis revealed enhanced cartilage regeneration and reduced joint inflammation in the treated animals. These findings support the efficacy of stem cell therapy in alleviating osteoarthritis symptoms and promoting joint repair in companion animals. In conclusion, this research provides valuable insights into the potential of stem cell therapy as a novel treatment approach for osteoarthritis in companion animals. The study contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting the use of stem cells in regenerative medicine and highlights the importance of further research to optimize treatment protocols and expand clinical applications. Overall, stem cell therapy offers a promising avenue for improving the management of osteoarthritis in companion animals and enhancing their quality of life.
