Thesis Abstract

**Abstract
** This thesis explores the application of stem cell therapy in the treatment of canine osteoarthritis, a prevalent degenerative joint disease in dogs. Osteoarthritis significantly impacts the quality of life of affected animals, leading to pain, reduced mobility, and impaired joint function. Traditional treatment methods for osteoarthritis in dogs provide symptomatic relief but do not address the underlying cause of the disease. Stem cell therapy presents a promising alternative by targeting the regeneration and repair of damaged joint tissues. The literature review conducted in this study examines existing research on stem cell therapy for osteoarthritis in canines. Ten key areas of focus are identified, including the mechanisms of action of stem cells, clinical outcomes of stem cell treatments, and challenges in implementing stem cell therapy in veterinary practice. By synthesizing current knowledge in the field, this thesis aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the potential benefits and limitations of stem cell therapy for canine osteoarthritis. The research methodology section outlines the experimental design and procedures used to investigate the efficacy of stem cell therapy in a canine osteoarthritis model. Eight components are detailed, including the selection of study subjects, stem cell isolation and characterization, treatment protocols, and outcome assessment measures. The methodology employed in this study aims to generate reliable data on the therapeutic effects of stem cells on joint health and function in dogs with osteoarthritis. The findings discussed in Chapter Four highlight the significant improvements observed in dogs receiving stem cell therapy for osteoarthritis. Results indicate enhanced joint mobility, reduced pain levels, and improved cartilage regeneration following stem cell treatment. Furthermore, the discussion delves into the underlying mechanisms through which stem cells exert their regenerative effects on arthritic joints, shedding light on the potential pathways for future therapeutic interventions. In conclusion, this thesis underscores the potential of stem cell therapy as a novel and effective treatment modality for canine osteoarthritis. By elucidating the biological processes involved in stem cell-mediated joint repair and regeneration, this study contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting the use of regenerative medicine in veterinary orthopedics. The implications of these findings extend beyond veterinary practice, offering insights into the broader applications of stem cell therapy in the field of musculoskeletal health.
