Thesis Abstract

Abstract
Cover cropping is a sustainable agricultural practice that involves planting specific crops during non-growing seasons to cover and protect the soil. This study aimed to investigate the impact of cover cropping on soil health and crop productivity. The research was conducted over a period of one year in a field setting where different cover crop species were planted and their effects on soil properties and crop yield were monitored and analyzed. The study utilized a combination of field observations, soil sampling, laboratory analysis, and statistical methods to evaluate the impact of cover cropping. The results revealed that cover cropping had a significant positive effect on soil health indicators such as soil organic matter content, soil moisture retention, and soil structure. These improvements in soil health were attributed to the ability of cover crops to suppress weeds, reduce erosion, and enhance nutrient cycling. Furthermore, the study found that cover cropping had a positive impact on crop productivity.
